Books and Inspiration 1/2

Today I was thinking about how many sorts of books I have been working on lately
and maybe I should make a choise and specialize. But the "problem" is.........I like it all.
I like to work with paper and cardstock, but also enjoy fabric and lace......
All materials are so fun to create with.

The thing is........... I think I have to learn how to "loosen up" a little : ).
I don't know if I can explain this in English,
but I'm a bit afraid of working free. In Dutch we say..........
"afraid to color outside the lines"....... : )
Writing this down I'm not sure if this is said right, but
I hope you know what I mean.
It's not that I'm unhappy with my first results, but I really, really want to dare..........
to create, make what I feel instead of what I think is expected.
Do hope that in the time to come I will make more progress in this.......

For example....my first "Fabric Book"  and below the last one.......
my "Sepia-album" dedicated to my grandmother........there is some difference......
The Bridesbooks lay inbetween I think.......
I'd love to learn more........but maybe this is me.........just wait and see........

     ......................just wait and see.......

  1. Hallo Wilma,

    Fijne dag!

    Liefs Helena

  4. I'm back again Wilma to leave a comment saying just how very beautiful your books are - you should be so proud of your work here!
I think my fabric books may be a lot more shabby!!! Having a background in crazy quilting probably helped.
    Keep it going!!!

  6. Wilma, your work is WONDERFUL!!! Don't let others dictate what you should do...after all, art is self expressed with tools and materials. YOUR personal stamp is on the work, and I have to say, those books are remarkable!! Beautiful laces are of course my fave, but you've made the laces stand out in that sepia book in such a way that their beauty is easy to see and enjoy. Sometimes the exceedingly multiple layers look pretty all together, but the beauty of a single piece of lace can be missed or covered. I'm struggling with this too...whether to mix the laces with paper or stick to fabrics. I am having a problem mixing them, but I so enjoy music and pictures that it just would be easier to try them together.
See...it's not just you!!! It's me too!!
After I get this room organized I'm wanting so bad to get started on a new collage...the Bible verse one....it's in my head and even on paper as a diagram, but I'm not sure of the colors. It will come though. Some day!
    Blessings to you sweetie!!!

  7. I completely understand your feelings as I, too, have that same issue! Sometimes we feel we are holding ourselves back... pulling on the reins a bit too tightly. Yes, we can create beautiful things ~ your work is just divine! But we also know that we can step more out of our comfort zone. I think that comes with more and more practice. And I think we should just realize that we do is just fine, too! No, I completely understand. Now I will say that your books are amazing! I love all the lace mixed with vintage photos. And those cakes! I so look forward to seeing what you will create next and will do so as I am your latest follower! If you have a chance, I would love it if you dropped by my blog for a visit! We have a lot in common! Thanks for sharing your talent!

    that come along with creating.
